Subject: Is This PSU enough?OS: XP HomeCPU/Ram: AMD XP3200+/512 pc3200 |
Comment: Hello, I foubnd a great price on this PSU: http://www.directron.com/eg375p.html however, this is my system: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 160GB 7200RPM HD 6800GT (this is why I need a new PSU) 512MB pc3200 3 fans i know it has 2 12V rails, which is what the 6800GT runs off of, but ive read that with 2 12V rails, it puts the fans, and hard drive on one so it can provide noise-free power to the cpu, mobo, and 6800GT from the other 12v rail. Is this true? So it will have my 6800GT, CPU, and mobo run off od the 14A@12V. Then it is not enough. Please helP! I am on a REALLY TIGHT budjet. GeForce FX 5500 PSU 250W

Reply: (edit)That price is awfully low...what's the catch...high shipping cost? Newegg.com has the same thing for $54 shipped: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-444&depa=0 The CPU & video card are the two that need the most amperage from the +12v...just make sure the CPU is on one rail & the video is on the other. Reply: (edit)Got a CompUSA near you? Have a look at the 400W Mad Dog unit for $40 after rebate: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=317509&pfp=SEARCH http://www.maddogmultimedia.com/products/techietoyz/power-SurePower_400.asp Mad Dog is a "rebadger", they don't really manufacturer anything. Here's what the above PSU really is: http://www.super-flower.com.tw/english/Cable%20Power/3%20Fan-01.htm Asus A7N8X-X 2500+ Sempron @ 2100mhz 10.5 x 200mhz @ 1.80v 512mb PC3200 Ti4200/8X 128mb WDC 60GB

Reply: (edit)I am from Canada so I cannot get anything from newegg or CompUSA. Is that Enermax enough? There is no catch, they just got a deal on it, Ive spoken to Directron employees. How can I make sure that the Video card and CPU are on seperate rails? GeForce FX 5500 PSU 250W

Reply: (edit)THANK YOU!! Ive been trying so hard to find out if this is the case. So the manual will tell me which molex's are for which 12V rail (1 or 2). So, do you think that PSU is enough for my computer and the 6800GT? GeForce FX 5500 PSU 250W
