Hi,

I have had some problems with my laptop since the day I got it. Whenever I try to play a game it will freeze/crash/lock within 10-20 min with looping fragment of a sound and will need a hard reboot. I have read multiple of forums/links...related to similar problems and I have tried many things and it still doesn't work. Currently I am checking the temperature. Can you tell me if those readings are high and if they might be to blame for the crashes.

I am using HWMONITOR to read the temperatures.

When Idle I get the following:
-------------
--------Value-----Min-----Max
----- --- ---
ACPI----52C(125F)----52C(125F)----63C(145F)
.......................................
AMD Turion
x2 mobile
tech. TL-64

#core 1 - 38c(100f) 36c(96f) 47c(116f)

#core 2 - 41c(105f) 41c(105f) 53c(127f)
............................................
ATI Mob.
Radeon HD2600

#GPU core 49C(120F) 48c(118f) 50c(121f)
---------------

Just before it crashes during gameplay i have the following readings:
-------------
Value Min Max
----- --- ---
ACPI 75C(166F) 47C(116F) 77C(170F)
.......................................
AMD Turion
x2 mobile
tech. TL-64

#core 1 - 65c(148f) 29c(84f) 68c(154f)

#core 2 - 68c(154f) 34c(93f) 71c(159f)
............................................
ATI Mob.
Radeon HD2600

#GPU core 69C(156F) 48c(118f) 71c(159f)
---------------

So what is the chance that those temperatures cause the freezes.

If it helps some additional info:

Thanks

HOT HOT HOT!

It is a good chance the temp is causing crash..so find a way to cool your laptop.

So are those temperature slightly higher or abnormally higher? Which one(s) are particularly above the general level? What exactly does the ACPI temperature measure?
What would be acceptable temperatures while gaming for a laptop like mine. Thank you

ACPI - 75C(166F)
AMD Turion - #core 1 - 65c(148f), #core 2 - 68c(154f)
GPU - 69C(156F)

I don't think there is one standard can apply to all. Each cpu has its own spec for temperature tolerance, same with graphic cards although they tend to run hot than CPU. You can check at the manufacturer website though. However, you would never want to hit the limit states at the manufacturer site.

Consider trying a laptop cooling pad see if it helps. I would suspect the graphic card because somewhat overheated CPUs lessly cause freezing. How about playing with a big fan blowing to it for awhile see if that helps before deciding anything 8)
