Over the past year my Epson perfection 1640 scanner began to require reinstallation/s, because the USB2 system didn't recognise it.

I put this down to adding new USB devices such as the card reader or the Camera cable or a joystick or a port expander. Maybe they were hogging the USB system and not permitting the scanner to communicate.
What shot that argument down of course was my printer HP 6940 was never lost.

I read up the cures for the scanner on the internet and after applying them, basically looking in the registry and removing all references to epson.

I find now that the following programs don't work CAPTURING IMAGES

Thumbs+7 ; Omnipagepro 16, philips webcam SPC220NC. and of course the epson scanner.

What do they all have in common? Twain.
Now I can see there is a twain folder in windows twain_32 and a twain DLL in windows root.

But it is not working or is in the wriong place.

Help please.
Fred

Check the Epson site for a driver update compatible with the service pack you are running. Below is a link to the latest twain drivers.
