Hi I am thinking about getting a geforce 4 Ti4200 would I see much improvement over my geforce 4 mx440? Also is it worth the extra money to get the 128 mb instead of the 64mb version?

thanks

I have heard bad things bout the MX version, but myself I got a MX 440. I can play all the games fine without any problem. But the lastest computer I built has a Ti4200 128MB, I did see a big improvement on that system comparing to my own. Of cause not just the video card that's better. I would get a Ti 4200 if I have the budgets to, on another hand if you are short on budget why bother?

The Ti4200 is a good card. You should see some improvement. The 64mb Ti4200 actually has higher benchmarks than the 128mb. I had heard a reason for this somewhere, but did not really pay attention. Check the links for the charts towards the middle of the page.

The ti4200 64mb card has faster memory than the ti4200 128mb card, but both cards in general will overclock to near ti 4600 cards.

I have both ti 4200 64mb pny card and a ti4600 128mb pny card which is about 1000 more score in 3dmark2001 bm's.

If you are knowlegable in oc'ing a vid. card go for a ti4200 w/128 mb card and with 8x agp for the near future games.

You can't go wrong with either the 64 or 128MB MB. The 64MB version came with the faster 2.8ns memory, compared to the 3.3ns on the 128MB version. And since most games don't use or need 128MB, it's slightly overkill, for now. Newer games coming out will benefit from 128MB, so it's a good way to go to future-proof yourself.

I have a MSI Ti4200 64VTD (overclocked).

Here's some specs for comparison on stock core and memory clock speeds for the Ti line:

Ti4200 Core:250, Memory:500
Ti4400 Core:275, Memory:550
Ti4600 Core:300, Memory:650

On stock cooling, I have my Ti4200 overclocked to 290/595, and it plays all my games well.

Cheers,

Andre

I would get the 64mb.

You are not likely to notice the difference unless your mx440 is currently unable to keep up with the games you play, which would be unusual since its a pretty good card.

I like playing GTA 3 and it played pritty crappy on my geforce 2 so I got the geforce 4 and I haven't noticed much of an improvement. Can someone tell me why gtas frame rates are so bad?
When I raise the resolution and color depth it runs better than it does on lower resolutions isn't that odd? My system specs are:

CPU athlon xp 1700
ram 256 pc 2100
geforce 4 mx 440SE
DVD
CDRW
wd 40Gb 7200 rpm
