Hi,

Is this a good PC? I got a quote for $915AUD fully installed. I already have the keyboard, mouse, video card, sound card, NIC, monitor, speakers.

AMD Athlon 64 2800+
256mb DDR 3200 RAM,
Gigabyte K8N Pro,
LG CD/DVD combo drive,
LG GSA-4120B DVD Dual Layer Burner,
Western Digital 80GB 8mb cache HD PATA,

Is this a good price? I like it!!!

PS. I am awaiting for more prices from other computer shops.

Matthew

To keep the cost down! I'm a student so i'm on a limited budget. I'll get 512mb later as well as a 120gb HDD!

If you wanna keep the cost down, get an nForce2 motherboard, Athlon XP Barton, & 512mb PC3200 RAM...you could probably get a 120GB HDD & still have some cash left over

It makes sense only in that it's easier and less costly to upgrade the RAM later. If that's what he's doing soon, it's actually wise. If not, it's foolish.

I want a 64 bit cpu because i want to upgrade it in the near future... i will be converting my vhs videos to dvd and playing games, etc, etc. I don't want to upgrade to an athlon XP series because i dont like them and they have no pgrade path. i'm going to forgret about the pentium 4's as well... i know that 256mb ram is no good, but i'm going to get more when money allows...

Matthew.

PS I found a cheaper price- $875AUD!!! The shop is closer to my house anyways... so i'll probably go with them. The building cost is free!
