my pc's dvd rom drive is suddenly damaged, It only reads CD's and, not reading DVD anymore, So, Is it damaged and need to be changed ? it's only 4 months old and still under 6 months warranty.

As I understand it, there are two lasers...one for CDs, one for DVDs. If your drive can only read CDs, it would seem that the DVD laser died. Take it back.

Thanks, But, don't you think it's too short time for DVD drive to die ?

It's LG DVD-ROM model GDR-H30N.
It's not overused, I rarely use my CD or DVD drives. 4 months looks too short for it.

Sorry, the replaced one also is fried after 4 days with very light use, I can't understand why is this happening ?

It's the second time. first 4 months then 4 days, what's going on ? do I need to upgrade the firmwire or something else ?

Reading CD's and straingly reading PS2 DVDs but, not any other DVDs for PC !!
