Comment: I was wondering if overclocking is really worth it. I seem to have the worst luck with computers. nothing ever seems to go right. not because im inexperienced (i have a computer repair diploma) but i would think the risk would be too high. Of course to overclock you need sufficent cooling. I just wanted to see what everyone thought.

Reply: (edit)Yes overclocking is worth it as you can get more power out of current devices, and then there is disadvantages, you could blow the mobo, the CPU or even the lot, Persoanlly I would overclock if you are prepared to get a new component, or are planning to upgrade anyway, I overclock my Graphic card as that is easy to overclock, I don't overclock the CPU as that can be a bit risky for the CPU and mobo Hope this helps Zero Cool

Reply: (edit)I've never lost a cpu or motherboard from overclocking, and no one I've know has either. A moderate overclock never hurt anyone...

Reply: (edit)THose who say it is worthwhile will be experienced [generally]. You are inexperienced, so keep everything working stronger and longer. Overclocking is like bolting on a turbocharger to a car: you get more power, but without a good and careful installation you blow the motor in no time!
