How can I confirm that my motherboard is dead? I had an old computer that I installed various upgrades---and had it working great. Put on the lid and got no power. Took off the lid and played with it and got power but now when I turn in on I get no post beep. The power seems to be working properly (cd rom drawer works). I took out all components cd, floppy, hard drive, video card, reseated the ram and cpu chip but still get the same results. I hate to throw this old computer away as it was working perfectly just a couple of days ago. Any solutions? Please help

No power and then No POST does not sound good. Something might have shorted out during the upgrade.
Instead of dumping the whole system you could `possibly' upgrade the motherboard/CPU. If it's an OEM box like Dell, Gateway, etc be careful, because they aren't always compatible with off the shelf stuff.

Thanks for the reply---I think you are right---I think the motherboard is shot.
Rather than field fitting another board in this old case I am thinking about buying the following unit from TigerDirect.com and seeing if I can add my components my working components to it (hard drive, cd rom, floppy, video card etc.) Do you think this will work?
Listed below is the unit that I am looking at for $49 from Tiger Direct. This includes a case and motherboard
Soyo 7VEM Barebone with a 133 MHz FSb, capable up to 1G of SDRAM and 300 Watt Power Supply
It's fast, easy and affordable! Build yourself an ultra-fast PC and save hundreds!
