My laptop monitor doesnt display
anything. It just shows glowing white
lines going across the screen
horizontally. I connected it to another
monitor and it worked, so it cant be a
video card problem . Can someone
please help me.

Buying and installing a monitor in a laptop in not the straight forward proposition it is with a desktop.
Laptop monitors are likely to me more expensive than a desktop, so the first thing to do is to make sure that it is in fact the monitor at fault.
From the description it does seem as if the monitor has broke. It could be that the LCD back-light is just broken, but the white lines would seem to eliminate that possibility. Try looking at the monitor in a darkened room at an angle. If you can see a faint image of what should be there, it would indicate a broken back-light and this is relatively easy to fix.
The next problem is installing it. Unless you are handy with a screwdriver, stripping a laptop to install a monitor can be a daunting task, that is assuming you can find one to fit your laptop. May be better to get someone to do it for you.
Quite often, a dead monitor can spell the end of life for a laptop. Depending on its age, it may not be an economical proposition to repair it.
