I've had a problem with a noisy CPU fan (ORB). Sent it back and got a new one (Arctic Super-Silent 2000). After installing, my PC wont boot up. No POST, no signal to the monitor, fans are working, HDD makes some noise, and ALL three keyboard leds are on.

Question is: could my CPU be overheated? I've reseated the Arctic.

BTW, how can I see if a CPU is overheated? I can't find a clear picture of it on the web.

thnx

It could be overheated. Sometimes they can break also if you put to much pressure on them when applying the heatsink(did you replace the heatsink?). I've never burnt one out so I dunno how they look but I'd imagine it would have some black charring on top of the processor.

it could be that the cpu is fried, maybe you had static on you when you took it out or applied too much pressure. I had the exact same thing happen to me when i changed cpus on my board. Try using another cpu and see if everything works well. Post back and let us know

well unless the processor is an old pentium3 500 mhz. or below then the processor can burn up in 2 seconds (thats really all it takes) did you aplly thermal grease or a pad?
