i was switching cases for my old computer, and ly i dropped the scredriver on the mobo while trying to screw it on its base. after i put everything together, after following an instruction manual the screen was just black. i checked all the cable...they were connected properly. i also changed video cards....didnt work. also i wouldnt hear my HD booting. while putting the parts together the only problem that i had was when i dropped my scredriver onto the mobo and i ly touched the back of my HD. i ddint touch or scatch anything else i believe. do u think the problem could be when my screw driver hit the mobo?? do u think i should spend my time getting it replaced or getting a whole new computer , when i have the $$??? (STUPID ME!!!!)
anyways, thanks for all the help..please help lol

Gus:

I suggest you strip it down to the absolute minimum;

Motherboard
CPU w/HSF
1 stick memory
video card

Reseat the memory and the video card. If those minimum parts are working then you should get some sort of error like boot device not found, or operating system not found. If you do, then connect up the floppy and try booting from a floppy. If this works then continue adding parts one-by-one and testing. The first part added that does not allow a boot, is, or is in some way related to the problem.

If with the minimal parts it does not boot, try your spare video card. If this still doesn't work than it is likely your motherboard or power supply that is causing the problem.

I agree with Hwood. If you strip it down to the bare minimum and do not get a beep or display, you probably have a blown motherboard and/or CPU.

was your computer lay down, if it was its possilble that the screwdriver has cracked the mobo
try what has been said if this does not work the problem may be above or it maybe possible that a wire in the eide cables has become disconnected when you have removed it or pluged it in
