Hey
I was having trouble with my system. I built it like I built 50 others. The problem I was having was that it keep rebooting everytime I connected the LAN but then it just started to keep doing everytime it booted up. So I figured its the harddrive so I changed the harddrive and now it doesnt detect anything. I go into the BIOS and it detects nothing at all. Please help quick!

jim,

Could be the mobo but it could be 2 separate issues here. Your second HD may be bad and have ntohing to do with the original problem. You don't mention your OS so i'm not sure if this applies but i had a simiar problem that was caused by the MSBlaster virus. Do you have a highspeed connection with a static IP address? If so your IP address is constantly being pinged so as soon as you connect your LAn you get the virus back and it shuts you down. If you can stay up long enough, go straight to microsoft.com and get the fix. If not have a friend download it for you and install it before you try to access the LAN again.

One other guess, since it seems to be getting worse, it could be your Power Supply dying? Try unplugging your CD and any other unnecessary cards and see if you can connect. This may not prove that it's the powers upply though as it also could be a device conflict with your NIC. If you remove/disable your NIC does the problem still persist? You didn't mention what age your mobo is either. If it's new, have the people you bought it from test it, sometimes new hardware is bad out of the box.

good luck,
wired
