Is more memory worth it?

For normal home use (no heavy gaming)is it worth the ~$50 to add another 256 mb stick of RAM. Will I see any difference between 256 and 512? Thanks for the advise.

You might as well go for. It can't hurt. I noticed a difference in making that jump. However, I've heard it's best to add ram in pairs. Try going to Crucial.com and enter in your computer info and see what info they have.

$50 for 256mb?? Where do you buy your RAM? I can get PC2700 for 1/2 that price. CompUSA, Circuit City, OfficeMax run rebate deals almost every week

My Soyo SY-P4IS2 takes PC133 which seems to be more expensive than the newer memory. I've seen it for $37 to about $89. I usually shop Newegg, Tigerdirect, and Buy.com.

If your not performing any graphics stuff (video or picture editing), if your not trying to run more than 1 program at a time, and you already said you're not a gamer, I would just stick with the 256 Meg ram. Will you see a difference if adding more? Yes, but you also have a bottleneck using PC133 ram. Therefore I would just save your money towards a newer system some day if needed.
