Not too long ago, I had problems with my laptop freezing and needing a hard reset to get back into Windows.
I had a feeling that the hard drive was failing as I noticed the possible signs. Not long after, it appearded that the laptop died with no screen even though the laptop powered up etc.
There were no beeps or anything, just black screen.
I took out the hard drive and connected it to my pc but my pc wouldn't detect the laptop hard drive so i presume the hadrd drive is dead.
Could that be why i'm getting a black screen becuase of hard drive?

"Could that be why i'm getting a black screen becuase of hard drive?" Seems pretty obvious the answer to this is yes. :) Do you see POST? Can you get into the BIOS?
Life's more painless for the brainless.

You don't need a harddrive in the system to post. However, a defective harddrive may prevent the computer from posting.
When looking for the harddrive in your desktop computer you need to look for it in Disk Management. If the drive shows in disk management you probably need to take ownership of the files/ folders. Look at the link below to learn how to take ownership.

When i turned the laptop on, i couldn't see POST or get into the BIOS.
When i connected it to my pc, i went into BIOS to see if the hard drive was detected, but it wasn't there.

If the laptop drive was not cabled and jumpered correctly then it wouldn't show, even if it is good.

if your laptop will not show any image on the screen after the hard drive has been removed then there must be something wrong with it. any pc/laptop should give you a post screen and allow you to enter the bios even if there is no hard drive connected

I tested the laptop without the hard drive and it did go to POST then gave some error message about hard drive missing which is a good sign

That means the MBoard, CPU and RAM are probably OK. You MAY need to replace the harddrive. Hopefully you have restore disks to re-install the software.
