No big issues or problems, but to save wear on the hard drive I would set the power setting to turn off the hard drive. The monitor and other settings are up to you in the control panel power options.

If you're running XP with a Celeron & only 256MB RAM, you need it on 24/7 to be able to accomplish anything!

All electronic devices wear out. If left off they should last longer. They are rated in failure in hours of use.

It would expose your system to possible attacks more often.

It will suck in more dust and create heat so you will have to vacuum it more often.

How hard is it to turn it off anyway? Most can be setup to hibernate. I press the off button and it is setup to hibernate. When it turns off I switch off the power strip to all the wall warts and modem and routers and everything.

I support the 'Everybody Draw Mohammed Day'. A religion doesn't deny my freedom.

With regards to "is it ok to leave pc on during a lightning storm". I had mine on and it got zapped which took out the modem, router, speakers, pc, surge protecter-?, and my patience. Plus it made large dent in my bank account.
