My sister has an iPod that recently started to malfunction. When a button is pressed, I get the apple logo alternating with the icon showing a file folder and a question mark. As noted on the apple support page, this indicates a problem with the ipod.
I tried resetting the device with the menu + select button. That failed. I tried plugging it into the power - that failed. I tried connecting it to my computer. There, itunes will not recognize the device. I wanted to restore the unit but that application would not recognize it.
I have two questions:
1) How can I fix the iPod? Do you have any more advice?
2) My sister physically dropped the unit within its carrying case I bought several times. I doubt it, but can the drops have caused this problem?Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

Try the Mac forum, you may get better suggestions from there. BTW is it still under warranty ?
Do not type anything in this space.
