Sorry about the categories I selected...I couldn't find anything that truly related to the topic.
I know someone has to have a similar setup to the one I envision for my company and I hope to get some advice from you experts out there who've dealt with it.
I have 7 stores using DVR surveillance systems that I've put together using PCI DVR cards up to 32 channels. Unfortunately I assumed that at the price charged for these cards the technology was well beyond infancy and at least able to stand without having to be held up. Not the case.
When they run 100% they do exactly what I need them to do. I can record more than 3 months worth of video without having the issues that I had with tapes. They do crash though...and when you're dealing with convenience stores you never know if the person you call and ask to restart the system is going to think, "Okay...if I have to restart it does that mean when the picture is still...I can steal whatever I want and get away with it.".
I've been reading a little bit about IP controlled power strips that will allow me to restart a locked up computer over the internet using a web interface.
PC Anywhere works when the program locks up...but more often than not it's a total hang and not just the program.
Have any of you used these power strips? Are they reliable, or will I be spending more money on something that will hang as often as the computers do?
If you have personally used them and have had a good experience, link me to the product you use.
If you know of a trusted source with positive reviews that I can browse through...that would be awesome too.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this lengthy crap. :)
