OS: Win XP Pro w/SP2
CPU/Ram: 2.6 @ 2.9 P4/1 GB DDR 400
Comment:

I just installed an ATI driver and shutdown the comp. i made the big mistake of changing my RAM before restarting the comp. now whenever it starts it says "lsass.exe I/O Error. The action requested cannot be performed. One or more errors in the registry cannot be recoverable." then it restarts. thats not the msg exactly but its something to that effect. How can i fix the registry and recover my comp? Someone please HELP!

The exact msg is "(in the heading bar)lsass.exe- system error" then the actual msg is "an I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. the registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry." hope someone can help with this:(.

lsass.exe - System Error - see the links given under the 'Accepted Answer'

Resist the temptation to close your request for help with semantically-null questions like “Can anyone help me?”

i was able to start in safe mode and do a virus scan. but i didnt find any viruses and i scanned everything! definitions are up to date. this is definitely a system thing. from google results it looks like it has something to do with memory.

definately a RAM error. or things id done to it:P. i changed the CPU to DRAM Freq back to SPD instead of the 1:1 ratio i had set it to. I also returned my CPU back to 2.6. the error msg never comes up anymore. however the system never logs on to my account on Windows anymore. it says it does not have enough sufficient system resources to create a temp file. my RAM mustve died somehow. damn my motherboard is smart it was bleeping all this time and i thought it was cause i changed a settings. Apparently both of the new RAM dimms i ordered are corrupt. its either this. or installing the new graphics card in my comp started demanding too much power from my PSU(which sucks). so my memory has simply stopped receiving power. which one do u guys thing it is? ive already ordered a new psu but im leaving for 10 days tom. so i wont be able to confirm anything till like the 29th.

lsass.exe is a XP program, isass.exe is the worm. When the i is a cap. (I) it is hard to read the differece.

in jboys link, click on the red button to register to see the answer.

I would download and run a memory test program, due to you changeing ram.
Can find one with goggle.

Found the problem, I just put back my old graphics card. IT WORKS again. So it was the power.
