Invalid system disk

I dont know anything about computers except how to sign on to aol.
I just got a used computer and after i hooked it up i am getting a message that says "invalid system disk replace the disk, and then press any key".
i dnt ave any "a:" or "c:" prompts so i cant type anything whenever i strike a key it just says "invalid system disk replace the disk, and then press any key". its torturing me.there is no disk in the drive. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

i dont think there is any windows software on his computer

Hi

The error mistake appears if the Computer can't find the System files on Track 0 on your Floppy or Hard disk.
1. Check if there is a Floppy disk in the Drive. If yes remove it and press enter.
2. If there are no windows installed on the disk, you have first to find a called bootable Boot disk with an operating system (DOS or Win95; 98 or w2k or what ever….) on it. This can also be a bootable CD with operating system.
3. Then install it…..

thats possible. but it can mybe be refixed by reinstall windows on Computer, but shure it's also possible that HD is broken.. or mainboard. my advice
trie reinstall...

francish i didnt say the harddrive was toast only windows appears to be so a freash install might cure it.

I know that the computer had all software taken off before they wee given away. i think i will try to reinstall. thank s much guys
