invalid signal pc to tv Please help!

February 17, 2013 at 11:04:19
Specs: Windows Vista

Here's my problem, about 2 months ago I bought a VGA cable hooked up my pc to my 61" jvc and it worked great for about 6 weeks and one night I had to unplug everything briefly for a storm. When I tried to gt everything going again, my tv started giving me an " invalid signal" message. I thought there was something wrong with my computer, so I went an bought another one and now I am getting the same message with new one. I am currently using my old monitor, because when I hook up the JVC to it just has a black background wih that crazy message jumping all over the screen," invalid signal". I also have tried changing everyone of of the resolutions.

"I thought there was something wrong with my computer, so I went an bought another one"

That was your solution? Buy a new PC?

Why are you using the VGA interface? You should be using digital not analog. Doesn't your computer have DVI or HDMI outputs? Doesn't your TV have DVI or HDMI inputs? Is the TV being used as the one & only montior or do you have dual displays? I'm guessing the TV resolution should be 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.

Other than that, there are settings in the PC graphics software menu & TV menu. We have no idea which JVC TV or computer you have so it's difficult to tell you where to look & what to look for, but it seems odd that a new PC would be running Vista?
