Comment:

This is the most illogical problem that I've ever encountered in my many years of dealing with computers. My Compaq laptop (6 months old) has suddenly, after months of flawless operation, developped an unexplainable habit: the internet is painfully slow, or simply won't work at all as soon as I plug the laptop's AC power cable in. My browser will search for a site for minutes without luck, but as soon as I unplug the power cord, it will connect to the site. My signal is always excellent so it doesn't seem to have anything to do with my connection.
I surf carefully, my comp is free of viruses and spyware.

Any thoughts? how can this be?

thanks.

Duncan

He's definitely on some Cable/DSL Broadband ;-)

Are you connected via ethernet or USB?

Have you tried it your modem and laptop in another room in the house?

Have you tried another AC adapter for the laptop?

I have a cable connection to modem -> ethernet to wireless router. It's the same in every room. No I haven't used another AC cord yet. Would that effect the internet speed/operation?

Have you tried using the power cord and the internet elswhere? Perhaps the problem lies within your home's wiring.
