Internet Outage = Power Supply Outage

Hi all.

Interesting thing happened at home last night.

Watching a movie on the study pc. Suddenly power is cut of and pc turns off. However the LED screen, speakers and all other plugged units are powered fine.

Then I notice the laptop in the living room looses Internet connection.

I try to restart pc but no luck.. No power seems to be passing thru the power supply so suspect a dead PS.

I went to reset the Internet and laptop is now connected to the net. I then went back into the study and managed to turn on the pc this time. It booted up to the user login screen but then died again, appx 30 seconds later.

I tested my luck one more time and attempted to power up. The PC didn't boot but I could hear a number of fans circulating in the case and a hissing/mild whine from the PSU.

On second PS outage the net was still active at home. Could the two outages be linked in someway or just a very odd coincidence and likely a done PS??

Secondly, could it be anything else aside from the PSU? Maybe motherboard, etc?

Any ideas appreciated. Phil.

The symptoms may point to overheating. Use canned compressed air to blow out everything.
