Comment:

My Motherboard has 2 internal USB connectors (both are now used and I need another one) Can I use (is there) an internal USB Y-cable to "split" one of the motherboard connectors so I can hook the extra internal USB cable ?
would this cause any problems or confusion ?

Bill

A Y-Splitter wouldn't work even if you could get one. If you need more USB ports you need to connect a USB Hub to one of the existing USB ports. USB Hubs come in four, six or eight port configurations.

Get a `powered' USB hub. It might save you from some future problems.

you could do that if you just need another usb port. however, if you need another internal one, most USB PCI cards have internal connections - you can get these pretty cheaply, and they'll add a couple of extra USB ports on the back of your computer as well.

heres one on newegg for $7.99:

or alternatively you could spend more and get a more reliable one with more ports etc

Yea, as mentioned above, there are several routes to go...

- unpowered USB hub
- powered USB hub
- PCI to USB adapter card...if you go this route, you might as well get a card that supports USB 2.0

A clarification on response #3. I believe what was meant was that your MBoard may already have additional headers that you can connect aports to. These ports would install into an empty knockout at the back of your case. The part you would need to buy is what was referred to in #3. Check your manual to see if this is an option for you. If so, it would be better than a hub.
