A few months ago I added a usb 2.0 pci card. It has 5 ports one of which is internal. I would now like to make use of the internal one. I am looking for a cable that runs from the internal port to the pins of the front usb ports in the case. Now if there is such a thing. Bought the motherboard used a couple years back. Tried wiring usb headers on motherboard to front ports. I guess that knocked out the usb controller. Googled around for cables to use internal port not much luck.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you saying the existing wiring from the case USB ports won't interface with the card header?
FYI, there are two different pinouts used for UDB headers. Gigabyte uses a different arrangement. Some case manufacturers wire the connector based on Gigabyte and most on everyone elses.
When you run into this situation you need to disasemble the connector down to the individual pins and then follow the correct scemantic.

There may be nothing wrong with the onboard USB controller - you may have just wired it up wrong. If the USB ports directly connected to / built into the mboard edge still work, it's extremely unlikely there's any thing wrong with the USB controller connection at a mboard header.
For more detail about the things OtheHill has mentioned....
See response 4 in this for things you MUST heed when you connect to USB headers on the mboard:
http://computing.net/answers/hardwa...The wiring/connector arrangement you are looking for is rare if it exists at all.
The internal USB port often works fine with the wiring and connectors connected to USB ports in a case panel you install in a bay higher up on your case.
Get one of those instead.
Look at the wiring details to make sure it has the regular USB A type end connector.

Read Tubesandwires response before making post yesterday.
I no longer want to deal with the usb header on the motherboard. I just want to use the internal usb port off of the usb pci card. I know for example that a memory card reader can use it and be mounted in front of case. I was just wondering if there is a cable that can connect to internal usb port to the pins that are on the case itself that has front mounted usb connectors.

Again, I ask, what is different that you need an adapter? Look at the connector that comes from the front USB ports. You can remoce each individual wire from that connector and then place them individually onto the pins on the card.

OtheHill
- the 5th port on the card is usually a regular type A USB port and there are no pins to connect to.

Ok, I see that you're not fimalar with the internal port off of the card. There are the four that are access out of the back of the case. The fifth one looks like the other four but is mounted on card at a 90 degree angle from the other four. Here is an example of one.
