OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
CPU/Ram: 2.8 Ghz
Model/Manufacturer: Homeade
Comment:

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
CPU: P4 Intel LGA 775 2.8Ghz (forgot cache size)
RAM: 1.7GB
MOBO: Abit AG8 3rd Eye.

I'm in the market for a new, faster CPU.

I don't do much multi tasking (on any given day, you won't find more than Dreamweaver CS3, WMP, Remote Desktop Client and Cisco VPN running on my desktop) so would, say, a Pentium 4 3.6Ghz CPU benefit me more than a Intel Core2 Duo, if I'm looking more for raw speed rather than the ability to run multiple apps simultaneously at equal speed?

Upgrading to a Dual Core would mean also having to upgrade my RAM/Mobo. I don't mind this, but if it doesn't give me a good processing boost, then it's all for naught.

Also, would Vista Ultimate benefit more from a Dual Core?

Thanks in advance.

Dual Core is the way to go now of days if you are building a pc. More and more software programs are taking advantage of Dual Core technology. Dreamweaver CS3 takes advantage of Dual Core technology which right there would be a good reason to get a Dual Core, because with a Dual Core processor it will help reduce the time rendering over a Single Core.

Vista takes better advantage of Dual Core technology then XP does.
