installing XP if no CD-ROM drive

June 2, 2008 at 21:30:04
Specs: XP Home 2002 Svc Pck, AMD Athlon XP-M/256
A friend of mine is trying to install Win XP on one of these ASUS mini-laptops that come with no CD-ROM drive. How can he do that? The machine itself is XP-ready, and he has his own XP OS on CD. He prefers XP to Linux which is already on this machine but which doesn't have specific functionalities he currently needs. Thanks for any leads. Kamal

There is always the option of using an external USB cd drive.

You might also try this:

I wrote that guide for people installing Vista on an m200 tablet pc, but the process should be the same, just substitute anywhere it says "Vista" with "XP".

There are plenty of how-to's on that model.

Start here.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
