I want to install Linux Freespire onto my WD external drive. I have already downloaded the sync data from WD. I put in the Freespire disc and entered install,I heard it running, but there was no choice as to which drive to install,so I powered down right away to save my XP Pro on my main drive. When installing a OS,I thought you had options as what to do.

Why aren't you asking in the Linux forum?

Of all the Linux distros available, why would you choose FreeSpire? The majority of Linux distros come on a Live CD...that means you can boot off it & simply run the OS directly from the disc without installing it.

Your external HDD may or may not be recognized when you boot off the disc...what you *may* have to do is boot into FreeSpire from the Live CD, then mount the external HDD so that it's recognized by the OS, then install the the OS from within the Live CD.
Or you could try following the installation instructions:

I'm considering installing Freespire for ease of use. I had Ubuntu 9.04 installed on my old laptop and it was very hard to figure out. If you know a good beginner distro, please let me know. Thanks for your reply, though.
