greetings,

Reasontly my old scsi drive die on my dell precission 340 so I figure is time for an upgrade. So got myself a SATA hard disk and a SATA PCI card. I'm using the SATA PCI card to connect the SATA hard disk drive, no SATA connector on my motheboard. Install both in and boot it up during the post bios it show that I have a disk connect to the the card so continue on with the installation. During the window's install press f6 to install my new SATA PCI card went just fine. Finally i'm at the screen where press enter to install window's 2k, press enter and "no hard drive detect on your system" my only option is to press F3 to quit. There has been time that I even got to the part where I get to format my hard drive and copying all the setup files. This is the part right before it reboot and doing the actual installation. Only problem is after all that is done and reboot I either get a hardware configuration issue, won't detect my drive, or just sit there. I only have one SATA hard drive connect to the SATA PCI card. I have try moving to different PCI slot on my motherboard and still have the same issue.

It's not the first time i have this problem but before I was lucky. My motherboard have 2 SATA connector. Dell's tech said is only for external use, but as you can see is internal. After a few try I connect my SATA drive to the SATA connector on the motherboard is working fine, despite Dell's tech opinion. This time my motherboard has no SATA connector and only way is to use the SATA PCI card. Has anyone encounter this before or know why I having such a hard time.

Did you install any drivers for the PCI card?

Yes the driver was install during the press F6 to add or install scsi/raid card portion. However after a few hours of trying to get it to work I switch to a different slot on the pci card and was able to get to install my windows.

If anyone has any program on channel 0, try channel 1, which is the second on the SATA PCI card). Channel 0 still giving nothing but trouble not sure why been that I only have one drive connecting to it.
