I am trying to install my new linksys wireless adapter (WMP54G v4.) and it is not being detected by my computer properly. When I first insert the card, windows does not detect it. If I go into device manager and force it to detect new hardware, it finds it, however it only installs a hidden driver called 'Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport'. I now have three of these and they only appear when i view hidden drivers. It will not let me delete them either. I will say as well that I tried a D-Link adapter and it did the same thing. As well, my ethernet port suddenly stopped working. It is also listed as one of these hidden devices.
Is there something I can do to fix this? I have tried all 3 pci slots (other devices like firewire & video card are detected fine). Please help!!

try something in the BIOS, switch the PCI slots.
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ClawHammer
ECS SLI Extreme
2 gig Corsair Value ram
Geforce 6800xt256 pci-e
WDC 80g
Plextor

i have the same card, it works fine for me...
it is not USB, so the software should be installed prior to physically installing the card itself. whatever you installed, go into device manager and uninstall it, and remove the card.
install the software first, power off, install the card, boot up and you should be fine
It says not to put a question here... why not?

I have gone through both of these suggestions. I have installed the software (both off of cd & linksys website) however, the card is still not being detected by windows. It does not put anything in the device manager except an entry for the miniport and that is only viewable when i click on show hidden devices. I know have 6 of these in there because a new one gets installed everytime I reinstall it and it will not let me remove the existing ones.
Any suggestions as to why my computer does not detect the cards and what I should do to fix this? I would prefer to not reinstall windows yet.
