Is it possible for me to take out my hard drive in my current computer and put another one in it that already has an OS and other things on it?

I'd say that will probably not work, depending on the OS unless the new hard drive has an OS that was running in that EXACT same PS previously.
If the OS is Windows, there are many hardware specific configurations setup on the hard disk and if you move a disk from a PC with one set of hardware to a PC with another, it will likely not work.
I tried this with Win XP and I got a blue screen when I tried to boot.
Better to format the disk and install the OS from scratch to start out fresh.Good luck!

I lost a couple cd's to a video game is their anyway i could get the entire video game from one hard drive to another?

You need to remember the hard drive you want to install is configured with the drivers for the motherboard on the machine you removed it from, not the one you want to install it in.
Even if you run the exact same OS, it will be looking to intialize hardware that does not exist and will not have the drivers installed to initialize the hardware that does exist.
It would likely work if both computers were identical but that rarely happens.

not likely... your game likely installed stuff on your old drive that would not be easy to transfer over.
If the new drive is the same size or bigger, there is some good software for copying all content from one drive to the other. Then, you could boot from the new drive as if it was the old drive.
It depends on what it is you're trying to do to determine if this is the solution for you.

Do you know any of the names of the software and do you think their would be any conflict because the older hard drive has windows 98 on it and the newer one has XP.

Larry addressed this twice. Your game is installed and registered to the OS using it's setup program. Merely transferring files won't work.
I think it's time to see if we can repair the problem with the hard drive you use in XP if you want to save your game.
From Larry:
"If the new drive is the same size or bigger, there is some good software for copying all content from one drive to the other. Then, you could boot from the new drive as if it was the old drive."
That's probably the ONLY solution and it's pretty iffy. Tell us about your hard drive problems and we may be able to provide more help.

The 1st Hard drive is a 80 gb Maxtor 7200 rpm its what i use on my main computer with Windows XP. The 2nd Hard drive is a 9 gb maxtor not sure about rpm and its running Windows 98. I see that i cant just install the older hard drive because of hardware conflicts but how would i go about moveing the 9gb hard drive to the 80gb hard drive?
