When I don't have any drivers installed (like right now as I rock 640x480)I can boot up no problem. When I install drivers (have tried old/new/beta drivers, reseating card, etc....) I lose monitor signal between the transition of the Windows XP boot screen and "Choose your account" screen.
Specs:
Windows XP SP3 (updated)
GeForce 8800GT (have tried stable AND beta drivers)

It would help to know your system specs. Is your power supply capable of handling an 8800GT? Does your board have integrated graphics? If so, did you disable it & change the initial display setting in the BIOS?
Here's the driver you should be using:

Yes, that is the driver I was trying to use. My PSU can definitely run it. I've had this computer for almost a year and its been fine. If it were a PSU problem I would figure that more would happen than display drivers just not loading.
I am going to try and boot onto my other HD and see if it loads.

Sorry for that sparse post,
Specs:
Windows XP Pro SP3 (updated)
Mobo = Core2Quad Q6600 (no onboard video)
1000w psu

Ugh sorry again. One of my family members is gonna be out of the country for 4 years so I'm a bit off from stress.
My mobo is:
Motherboard Model: Intel Corporation D975XBX2
Motherboard Chipset: Intel 975X (Glenwood-DG) + ICH7DH

If you are sure that you are loading the correct driver, it's possible that your graphics card is working ok in Alphanumeric (pre windows) mode, but dead in graphics mode. Can you try another card?
It's also possible (but not as likely) that your monitor (if a CRT) might be the one failing in graphics mode.(edit) Have you tried reseating the card?

i have known graphics cards to go faulty like this. without drivers loaded the card is not using much of its ability - a bit like the image passing right through it without much being added. when the drivers are loaded the card is being asked to start up all of the extra functions of the card - they might be faulty - and also it starts to use more power to power the extra bits and pieces so it is possibly a psu issue - i am not saying likely, but possible
