I have an a8n-sli motherboard and the chipset fan went bad so i had to buy a replacement. I bought the MCX159-CU. In the directions it says that u need to install pads if the chipset does not have a heat spreader. I dont think the a8n-sli has a heat spreader but it looks like it has some cushion or something on the side but im not sure. My question is Should i install the pads or not??

Asus has had a bad run of chipset fans & if you would have contacted them, they would have replaced it free of charge. If I were you, I'd contact them anyway...they'll ship you a new replacement fan & you can save it as a backup
