Installing 2nd HDD to Compaq SG3200UK from HP D530

Hello, i have a HP/Compaq SG3200UK ( and i also have a HP D530 (sff) but my hp d530 is broken so i want to take the hard drive out and put it into my SG3200UK but seeing as my sg3200uk has a SATA HDD can i install a standard ATA drive will it work ?

In a word, NO.

You can get an adapter to connect the old drive using USB. There are different options available but IMO the most versatile is the one linked below. You can use the same adapter to connect any 2.5", 3.5", 5.25" ATA or SATA drive to your computer using the included USB cable.

I have this exact adapter and it works.

Yes you can install the IDE Hard Drive in the Compaq, just make sure that the IDE Drive is lower down the boot order in BIOS.

The Motherboard you have has both SATA and IDE Port:

Sorry about that, I thought both computers were laptops. Should have clicked on both links.

Don't try to boot to the IDE/ATA drive. Use it for storage.
