IDE 1: Primary and secondary hard drive IDE 2: CD-RW and DVD-RW

The first one (IDE 1: Primary and secondary hard drive) because if u have a Cd-rom on ur IDE ribbon with your hard drive.. ur computer will run slower, ur hard drive runs a ATA100 or 133 and your cd-rom runs at ATA66 thing, go with the first choice it will work great:-)

its just that PC main drive seems sluggish after installing my second drive. for example videos seem to struggle, games are slightly jerky like they pause for a few seconds then carry on which happens about 3 times a minute and same with videos.
my speed of my prim drive is fine and bootup is takes about 25-40 seconds.

should i leave them set them to cable sellect or manually chage the jumpers to slave and master?

You should have them set Master and Slave same with cd-roms, that my be y it is slowing down on you
