Subject: installedXP audio+graph card probs
OS: XP Home Edition
CPU/Ram: 3
Model/Manufacturer: hp pav. amd proc
Comment:

ok, so i installed a different ethernet port, and internet is working. but now i have two more problems.

my audio still doesn't work. (not sure what type of audio card, i think it's built in the AMD proc.) I went into volume control and it said something about "there are no mixer devices avail."

by clicking on sounds and audio devices properties, it shows audio codecs, legacy audio drivers etc...

under device manager it shows this:

maybe one of these needs to be fixed?

as far as the legacy driver thing: seems to be fine... i'm lost!

just so you know, i had vista on here, formatted it to xp, and i had these problems, went back to vista, was ok, small problems, decided to go back to xp, vista was annoying me, this happens.

thanks for your help guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh,
and i installed my video card drivers and it works, but when i restarted my computer the settings made everything big again, the settings still say 1440 by 900. but everything is huge and not so good looking.

THANKS!

You have to install the sound drivers. We can't help you because you didn't bother to list the make/model of your PC or the make/model of your motherboard or the make/model of your sound card.

"the settings still say 1440 by 900"

Is that the native resolution for your monitor? Do you even know what the native resolution for your monitor is? Look into your monitors specs & change the settings accordingly. Once again we can't help you because you didn't bother to list the make/model of your monitor either.

the make/model of the pc is
-hp pavilion desktop pc (a1710n)-

processor:
-amd athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.2Ghz, 3GB RAM-

the sound card I have is built into the motherboard I believe.

i just dont know how to look it up, so i cant download the drivers.. i don't even know if that's the problem either...

please help, thanks!

graphics card is working now, i accidentally hit the wrong dpi. but i still need help with the audio.

"i just dont know how to look it up"

You go to the HP website & enter your model number:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

Your motherboard is an Asus A8M2N-LA & uses Realtek ALC888 integrated High Definition audio. HP only lists Vista drivers, so you'll have to use generic Realtek drivers. Hopefully this link will work:

I was able to see the two images in your OP!

There was nothing wrong with you using html to attach your two images to the OP. You just need to advise folks that they need to have "images" turned ON in their Computing.net portal or they will not see anything.

I didn't have my images turned on either...lol. Looks like you also need to install the motherboard chipset drivers.

Here's some more detail about your motherboard:

Here's the chipset drivers:

While I'm at it, here's the latest video drivers:
