I like to tinker around with pc's, i'm still new at the game so if anyone could help it would be appreciated! i'll list all the specs for his pc...

Just out of curiousity, why did you feel this was necessary?

"i updated the drivers on both the gpu and the sound card which also controls the networking i guess??"

No, you have the install the motherboard chipset drivers & Reaktek LAN drivers. The chipset drivers are avaiable at VIAarena, the LAN drivers can be found here:

ftp://66.104.77.130/cn/nic/Driver_5687_XP_0520.zip

thanks for responding..sorry i left that out. it's cable. he had a bunch of family members on and off of it so it was full of spyware, virus and a trojan or two and just slowing down...rather then take the time to remove them all and find progs to fix everything (they did'nt have anything important on there anyway)i just started over.

i reinstalled everything from disks ,everything was fine up and running on the net and then i found my old gpu and figured it would fit and i'm not using it anymore why not give it a lil'boost thats when the connection stopped working...
