|If the drive is connected properly, and if the bios settings are set correctly so that it can be detected, it will show up as having been detected in the mboard's bios Setup. |
If it shows up there, then Windows will show it as having been detected in Device Manager - Disk drives, and in Disk Management, BUT, if it's a new hard drive which always has no data on it, or a used hard drive that has no data on it, it WILL NOT show up in My Computer or Windows Explorer until it has been software partitioned (e.g. using the NTFS) and formatted in Disk Management.
Control Panel - Classic View - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management .
RIGHT click on the un-allocated space on the new drive , choose New Partition.
