Install settings for LC monitor?

November 16, 2010 at 19:51:55
Specs: Windows XP
It appears the Plug and Play function does not work when installing a different monitor.
I have an e-machine with XP OS

I have a Sharp LC-19AD22U with a VGA cable to the e-machine.

When the computer is turned on the e check out and the Microfsoft trademark shows as in a normal startu.

Then the screen goes black with a NO SIGNAL tag displayed.

What settings are missing or wrong and why doesn't the Plug and Play work to install the sharp as the monitor?

You need to start the computer in Enable VGA mode, then load monitor drivers, preferably ones specific to the model. If the monitor you just connected is new, it probably came with a CD that has the specific drivers on it.

See response 9 here for lots of details:
http://www.computing.net/answers/ha...

starting at....
"Boot into Enable VGA mode."

(as in...

Remove any bootable CDs or DVDs you have in drives.
Press F8 repeatedly while booting, don't hold down the key, starting very early in the boot.
When the Windows boot choices menu appears, choose Enable VGA mode. )
