Hopefully someone can help me...

I'm trying to install a 320GB Seagate Barracuda ST3320620AS SATA drive onto an existing Windows XP SP2 system with 3 IDE hard drives drives (80gb, 320gb, 130gb) and an Asus A8V motherboard. Burner isn't currently hooked up as I ran out of power cables and need to copy stuff between the drives.

I *believe* it's hooked up right, the BIOS recognizes that there's 4 drives in there (although only when I have SATA BOOTROM enabled... maybe that just creates a "drive" in bios and I haven't hooked it up properly?? I dunno...)

Either way, Windows doesn't see the drive and most of the information I've found online only provides information on how to install Asus A8V SATA drivers during a fresh XP installation by pressing F6.

Any help would be much appreciated, just need XP to recognize the drive. Thanks in advance!

James

Just to follow up, I don't thing the BIOS is recognizing it... I get 4th drive as "VIA VT6420 1st HDD" but only when OnChip SATA BOOTROM is enabled in the BIOS.

Any thoughts? I double-checked and it's all plugged in properly.

Thanks,

James

Aha, got it figured out on my own.

I kept going to the Asus website looking for drivers and stuff, but it turns out that I needed to get the "VIA 4 In 1" driver package, installed it, now the drive is coming up perfectly now after running DiscWizard.

Just thought I'd let ya know. :)

Cheers,

James
