It appears that the cmi8330 is very old and a WinXP driver may not be available. Wait for other responses, but it looks like you might have to purchase a sound card that will work with XP.

i have tried the latest driver from cmedia.com and aslo tried the Win2000 driver too. I thing i have to buy a sound card for winXP, because i found no anyother solution. Or is there any other solution

I found something in my answer posts....
"Note that for Win XP, you may need to use the CMI8738 drivers for the CMI8330 chip"

dear, Tubesandwires and ham30 ihave tried your solution too, but cmi8738 didn't work. So now i have changed onboard sound to a PCI card. now its working.
but still i think there must be a soluition for onboard sound cmi8330 problem for XP

Are you sure you have CMI8330? Maybe you have CMI8338 - the tiny printing on the chip would look very similar.

yes Im very sure that the driver name is cmi8330, because previously the pc had Win98 and that time i had no problem with sound. After installing WinXP, soud problem raised.
anyway now the PC is having a PCI sond card, and its working fine. So i disabled the onboard sound.
but if you have any other solution please tell me.
