i wanted to get rid of my old hard drive and install a new one. i know i have to make some kind of boot disk and partition the new hard drive and stuff. but i don't know the exact procedure. if somebody could plz let me know how to start and configure, partition, and install my os on my new hard drive, i'd appreciate it... thanx

if you buy a retail hard drive, it'll include software to do all that for you. if you buy oem, what you do is, install drive, run fdisk to partition, run format c: (d,e,f, whatever partitions you have) to format (obvisouly), then install your OS, either by booting from cd, or using boot disk

Before you take our old one off... make sure U make a boot diskeete with CD rom support....(from win 98)
Windows 95/98/Me
1. Insert a blank floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Click the Startup Disk tab, and then click Create Disk. Click OK when prompted. When after installing your new HD.. boot from the diskette... then U can restart the partitioning or formatting....
