Is it an IDE CD drive, or SATA? What said that your CD drive wasn't compatible? Did you get an error saying that, or you read it somewhere. What model CD drive is it, and what Model computer?

Well If it's an IDE try to change the power chord of the CD rom . Also try to change the IDE. They might have some cut wires on them. But if it's a SATA try to change it's connector.

Trying to randomly connect your drive is like playing the lottery. You may get lucky and hit the right combination but most likely you won't.

The type of drive is important to know if we are to help. IDE drives use a data cable that is over an inch wide and may be connected to your hard drive as well as your CD drive. SATA drives use a small, almost round, usually red data cable. Which kind do you have?
