hi i have an Acer Notebook (travelmate 430) and a T68 ericsson phone , both with infrared. I put the phone next to the infrared port on the laptop but it doesnt detect any devices. Anyone know what i can do?, (the infrared port is the black square at the front right?)

You first have to make sure the infrared is enabled on the laptop - check in device manager first, it should be listed there. If not then you need to access the BIOS on boot-up and enable it there. You also need to set your phone to communicate by IR - it doesn't do it automatically, there is usually a menu listing under 'communications' to enable it

I to have an Acer laptop, a Ferrari 3000, the IR is always on by default, but with the mobile, you will need to enable IR, it'a usually under a menu called "Data" or Data Transfer" or something similar
