Hi!

I installed 'City Life' demo (a videogame). It went smoothly. At the end it wanted me to reset but I clicked no. Two seconds later, the screen was turned off (not just black, it turned itself off), and shortly after the so-feared 0x000000EA in nv4_disp.dll error appeared, the infamous "infinite loop".

I reset and after Windows has loaded the same thing happens. I reset and go "safe mode" which runs fine. I uninstall the game, reset, same story. Safe mode, uninstall graphic drivers, run Driver Cleaner, reset. Ok, Windows boots.

Good, it boots but I don't have any graphic drivers installed. I install the latest ones and during the typical screen twinkle, it's the same problem... Well, to make it quick, with no graphic drivers Windows boots and with them it gets stuck (blk screen+BSOD or sometimes without BSOD).

Please, I need help, I don't have a clue. I did pass Driver Cleaner that sweeped every trace of the drivers (so why keep having BSOD's about nv4_disp.dll if it is new when I reinstall them?) And I deactivated Fast Writes, yes, which I know to be a common solution, to no avail. I checked the voltages too, they are fine.

Maybe reinstalling Windows is a solution (I used Windows Restore but didn't work), but that's a step I won't take unless I'm completely desperate. (BTW, are my programs still installed after a Windows reinstall?)

Oh, the graphic card's a 6200 AGP 256mb XFX. AMD Sempron 2800+, the mobo's a K7N2 Delta2 with 512ram @400, three hard drives, two rear fans, PSU @400v, etc, etc.

Thanks a lot!

LOL, big lol. You wouldn't guess what the problem was. It was... the screen. Yes... the screen.

It's so ilogical as to say that some broken speakers are making the PC get stuck and tell you, via sound, that there's a problem with the audio card.

I tried with another screen I have around here and it worked. I switched them and they are both working fine on their PC's. Who would have thought of it.
