Improve Disk Transfer Rate

Specs: Vista Ultimate, Centrino Duo 1GB RAM

When i run the performance index rating in Vista, the lowest score is the Disk Data Transfer rate on the Primary Hard Disk Drive (rated at 4.2). Can this be improved with updated driver/disk controller software or is it a physical restraint of the hardware.

Seems a shame as the other scores are at 4.8 - 5.

That whole score thing should be removed, kind of flakey.

I doubt a driver update would help.

Leave it, forget it.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Leave it, forget it or apply Windows Vista performance & reliability updates from M$ Windows Update site.

It's a laptop. Laptop hard drives are slow by nature. Other than going out and buying a faster drive, there's nothing you can do about it.

Let me correct myself a bit.

You should consider leaving on automatic update feature in most cases. I would highly doubt any significant performace increase would be observed even with a new driver. The updates would tend to protect your data more that improve speed.

In my opinion MS products tend to slow down more often than speed up. :)
