Specs: nintendo wii, nintendo Wii Platform
Ok people are saying if you external hard drive is out in the cold. "it loves the cold" first is that true?

Secondly IF so Would it be a better idea to leave my gaming hard drive out in side on the patio with ~12 degrees Celsius temps, and hook it up to my wii so I able to play games for half the day or would this theory screw my external hard drive up???.

I keep finding that externals love cold temperature!!

Virtually any electronics will "love" cold temperatures. Lots of money is spent keeping them cool. The problem isn't the cold but the change in temperatures when you bring them in---which can potentially cause condensation on the drive. If you retrieve it from the cold, give it a few hours to warm-up before using it "inside".

I'd have to say that sounds like rubbish to me. If it isn't switched on then it doesn't matter if it's at room temperature or 40 below. You'll do more harm than good but taking it outdoors and bringing it back in again.
