OS: XP SP1
CPU/Ram: P4 Prescott 3.0 Ghz, 2x51
Comment:

I just bought new components to upgrade my computer: P4 Prescott 3.0 Ghz w/ HT Socket T (LGA 775),
2x512MB Geil DDR PC3200 Ram,
Chaintech GeFORCE 6600 GT PCI-Express 16x 128mb GDDR3 Ram,
915P MSI Motherboard (Socket T),
I am running on XP, had to reinstall (repair) XP to get the computer to boot up, but the BIOS won't recognize my IDE 2 or 3 slots and the HD and CD drives in the primary IDE slot are listed as "Third Master/Slave" not first.
Other Problem is that I was running a 1.2ghz earlier and this current setup is running at half the speed that the old setup ran at. What do I have to do to get it working like it should?
I have a 350W PS
Last problem, when my computer is thinking, or scanning its drives it makes a high pitched noise, (not the HDD or CDrom) it gets higher pitched when using the CPU more, and the sound is gone when idleing.

Thanks, Mike

My guess is you have SATA but you're using IDE & your FSB is set at 100mhz (400FSB) instead of 200mhz (800FSB). The high pitched noise is probably your CPU fan setup to vary it's speed depending on load
