|I recently put an old (but 100% working) IDE HDD into my PC, on IDE Channel 2 on my mobo. My OS boots fine, but then it starts hanging and then completely freezes up. I tried deleting all partitions and reformatting in Disk Management but it reached 100% then froze. The IDE cable is brand new and Asus branded so good quality. I have noticed this before on IDE channel 1 I have a Samsung CD-ROM optical drive as Master which now and again spins/lights up on the busy LED and freezes my mouse for a few seconds. So is there some IDE issue here?|
Abit IB9 Mobo
1 x Samsung CDROM (IDE1 Master)
1 x Pioneer DVDRW (IDE1 Slave)
1 x Western Digital 500GB (Sata1)
1 x Samsung Spinpoint 320GB (Sata2)
---1 x Samsung Spinpoint 12GB (IDE2)
Running Windows XP Professional SP3
+Avira Personal Anti-Virus and Malware Bytes
So in brief:
IDE2 Port + Asus IDE cable + Samsung 12GB IDE HDD = freezing OS.
Any help would be great!
