IDE drives are showing as SATA drives in BIOS

August 28, 2010 at 08:12:07
Specs: Windows XP
Yesterday my computer got infected with a Rootkit.Gen3 Trojan, and it has resulted in me getting BSOD (STOP 0x7B) every time I reboot, even when trying to get into safe mode.

Anyways, the BSOD error suggest a harddrive failure. So I had a look in my BIOS (Phoenix - Award) and notice that my two IDE harddrives now suddenly show as SATA drives!?!

I can not figure out how to change them back to IDE so that I might be able to boot from them again. Can anyone help? Please!

List the system specs.
loading default settings or clearing cmos should fix the problem

System specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2GB Ram
Windows XP SP3

Loading Default settings in BIOS CMOS didn't change anything, what did you mean by "clearing cmos"?
