Hi all,

Just need some advice. Building a new system using SATA hard drive so thats OK. What's the best configuration for my CDRW and the DVDRW. IDE1 or 2 / slave master etc....

If you have two CD drives, no IDE hard drives, but them on master on separate channels.

Yes, placing them on different channels will increase the transfer speed between them. However there is no speed difference between Master and Slave. The normal instinct is to think that Master will be faster, but it's not the case.

I only say master because people usually use the ends of an ATA100 cable, so it avoids problems. ;-)

Another misconception that a lot of people have (including me, for a while) is that the Master has to be on the end of the cable. As long as you are not using Cable Select, it doesn't matter.
